Turning Pain into Purpose: The Why Behind HR Mami

Hi there, thank you for stopping by – let me know if your job has been a pain for you, let’s find YOUR PURPOSE!

There are over 5 types of miscarriages, but on medical documents they are labeled as “abortion.” I DO NOT WISH THAT EXPERIENCE ON ANYONE, not even the most evil people.

The emotional and mental impact has been unbearable and a constant roller coaster, a whole year since the loss is approaching but it still feels like it happened yesterday. After receiving treatment and support from different professionals, I reached a point in my JOB that I could not shake off the thought of HOW CAN I CHANGE LIVES. There has to be a greater purpose to this suffering, the pain must have an effect.

This is where I decided that my Human Resources trajectory needed to be put to work for a larger benefit of my community and then it was started, CAREER COACHING from me!

My experience of losing my entire life the second I was told, “there is no heartbeat,” changed my entire outlook on my journey completely. Until that moment, I was always hustling to reach the next milestone in my HR career nonstop, the next large salary and role responsibility. Well after that day, nothing else mattered, only MY PEACE and HEALING.

Well the current job I was working at did not support either because of the long hours, no work/life balance, constant traveling away from home, and demands of positive interactions were not helpful. I COULD NOT BE MYSELF AT THAT PLACE! Everyone has a different experience through a miscarriage, mine was specifically a missed miscarriage and I heard a heartbeat before losing the baby, we had an early gender exam through blood analysis. YOUR INTUITION DOES NOT LIE, TRUST YOURSELF.

By the way this all happened right before the Christmas and New Years holiday, the worst possible time. IT WAS HORRIBLE!
Then I returned to the office after the “bereavement” period as I did not qualify for FMLA with that organization due to the short time I had spent there. AND the doctor NEVER even discussed options to check into my MENTAL HEALTH. They were only concerned about me “clearing out the embryo parts”! MY BABY REMAINS, inconsiderate jerks!!!!

When I made it back to work, one of the first events I conducted was orientation for a few new hires and as I walked them through the benefits of working there, one of them asked, “Are you retiring here?” That question made me question, do I need to just keep the flow of next big career moves or do I need to make a change?

Well, the experience of miscarriage led to a strong desire for positive change. And I was limited in making decisions or true impact from the corner office so I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own business to support others in making the best decisions for their CAREERS.

My goal is to change the world and workplace environment, one person at a time since I believe that coaching is truly an individual need for specific objectives. As a career coach, I have learned to be extremely transparent with every client about the impact that a specific job may have on their family and future. It requires truly understanding the dreams of the person and guiding them to determine an ACTION PLAN.

All of the clients which I have been supporting, speak of how positively influenced they have been by just the start of my process. Before I look at any documents such as resumes, cover letters, or job applications – it is important to me that I can understand the true priorities and desires and challenges of every client.

Most importantly I want to share the importance of resilience and hope in the face of adversity.

And I am not able to guide them through their true calling in the labor market without understanding them directly, so I try my best to explore their personality, perspective, and passions before diving into the administrative tasks of career coaching.

While it has been extremely painful to face losing a baby and all the expectations that were coming with him, I am determined to turn that pain into a higher purpose and truly inspiring hope.

AND I PLAN TO DO THAT ONE PERSON AT A TIME THROUGH CAREER COACHING!
